One of the areas that we are constantly receiving phone calls about is weight loss. It should come as no surprise, as this is among the top areas that people consult a hypnotherapist to deal with. The problem is that up until recently, while hypnosis has been shown to be very effective in weight reduction, the success rate was still lower than I personally would want to see for my clients. All that began to change once I started working with a new system that produces the effects of gastric band surgery, without all of the risks associated with the surgical procedure.
For those of you not familiar with gastric band surgery, it is a technique that places an adjustable band around the upper portion of the stomach. A tube runs from the band, to a port that is placed under the skin, allowing the band to be made tighter or looser. While the surgery has been successful for many people, there have also been those that encountered major, even life threatening, complications. My system uses hypnosis to convince the unconscious mind that the stomach has had a constrictive band placed around the upper portion. As a result the client finds that they become full much more rapidly, and as a result, the client will eat way less then prior to the treatment. The program is conducted over four sessions, each spaced one week apart. In individual sessions, the results have been nothing short of amazing. To give you just one example, a recent client took off eleven pounds in her first week on the program! On average, people are losing between five and eight pounds in their first week, and about one to two pounds every week thereafter. This gives the client the slow and steady weight loss that most often results in long lasting results. Of course, as with anything in life, the client needs to have the motivation to achieve their desired outcome. Hypnosis is not a magic wand that will make a person loss weight, it is simply a tool to assist those wanting to make this change. I have more than once turned down prospective clients that were coming in because somebody other than themselves wanted them to be thinner, or because the motivations were less than healthy. The motivation has to come from the client, or nothing will produce long lasting results. In the past few months, I have been curious as to how well the program would work in a group setting. As a result, starting on May 3, 2012, I will be conducting a study to test the system in just this type of environment. There will be no charge to be part of the study, however potential participants will be screened to make sure that they are a good fit for the program. The program will require a commitment to attend all four sessions, do the homework, and follow the system. If you, or someone you know, are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, give my office a call at 505-884-0164, and we will be more than happy to talk with you.
